Companion plant peppermint. Say goodbye to mice and aphids near your cannabis.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a drought and flood tolerant hardy perennial ground cover with bright green aromatic leaves. Used as a medicine for thousands of years the ancient Egyptians grew peppermint and used it for indigestion, calming inflammations and as a palliative for the common cold.

Contemporary scientific trials on peppermint have proved it more than a folk medicine and that the bygone Romans and Greeks were right to use it for pain relief and as a gentle stimulant.

Peppermint is an excellent companion plant for cannabis. It has a vivid aroma that combines with your other fragrant companion plants to mask the idiosyncratic stench of maturing marijuana. It attracts the good guys like bees and repels ants, fleas and aphids, flea beetles and mice. Regular tipping encourages prolific growth, but watch out! Peppermint will spread and sucker relentlessly and carpet your whole garden in no time. Break it apart regularly and replant or put in pots for complete control and dot about your plants.

Type Perennial, herbaceous.
Height 30 - 90 cm
Harvest 2 - 3 times during the season. Flowers - July-August (7 - 8 weeks).
Effect Aromatic, distraction and stealth/cover fast.
Climate Cool season, Full sun to partial shade, need winter protection in cold climates.
pH Prefers 6,5 to 7,0. Can grow between 5,6 and 7,5. .
Soil Rich, moist, well-drained.
Germination 10 - 16 days / 21-24°C
Spacing 45 - 60 cm
Seeds per gram 17.000 - 20.000
Note Attract beneficient insects, repels pests. To continue vegetative growth, cut the stems 3-5 inches from the ground right before flowering.

    Σχόλιο : Personnellement, j’adore ce site mais je suis déçu des mes derniers achats de cette année. Graines auto-flo « abîmées », j’ai reçu le sachet avec les graines menthes comme si elles avaient séchées / fondues et donc, inutilisables. Idem pour le kit starter de départ, la poudre à dissoudre dans l’eau n’était plus présente dans le sachet, tout avait fondu et sécher à l’intérieur et donc, inutilisable. Je n’ai pas pensé à faire de photos, tant pis pour moi.
